💎 15% Impregnated White Opal w/ Orange Fire — Warm, Luminous Play-of-Color

This lab-created opal is formed from microscopic silica spheres arranged into the precise, repeating lattice that gives opal its signature play-of-color, then infused with polymer resin (approximately 15%). A bright, milky body tone pairs with warm, directional flashes of orange and amber fire, letting the color glow with a soft, luminous warmth as it shifts across the surface. The 15–20% resin content places it in the middle of our opal lineup — more resilient and forgiving to cut than resin-free opal, yet harder and more durable than the high-resin Aurora material, and it takes a clean polish for both faceting and cabbing. Cheerful and radiant, this combination has a gentle, sunlit character that suits both delicate and bold designs — a versatile, eye-catching choice for faceted stones, cabochons, inlay, and everyday jewelry.

Key Features:

  • Body Color: Bright, milky white — a soft, pale backdrop that glows
  • Fire / Play-of-Color: Warm orange and amber flashes with a sunlit character
  • Pattern: Directional flashes with rich, broad spectral hues
  • Composition: Silica with approximately 15–20% polymer resin (~15%)
  • Workability: More resilient and forgiving to cut than resin-free opal, yet harder and more durable than high-resin Aurora material — suitable for both faceting and cabbing
  • Hardness: ~4 on the Mohs scale — best suited for faceted stones, cabochons, and inlay in protected settings
  • Heat Resistance: Up to ~140 °C (284 °F) — keep cool, low heat only
  • Best For: Faceting, cabbing, inlay, intarsia, and everyday jewelry

A warm, approachable opal that works in nearly any design. Each piece is sold by weight.

📸 Additional Notes:

  • Because this material contains resin, it has a heat limit around 140 °C (284 °F) — cut and polish wet, keep it cool, avoid ultrasonic cleaners, and use a cold dop or low-heat method rather than hot dop wax.
