Various sizes of day-glow yellow Gadolinium Aluminum Gallium Garnet (GAG) rough for faceting and gemstone creation.
It owes it electric color to the addition of Cerium in its chemical make-up and warrants the title "Lumogarnet". It positively glows in daylight and some of this is due to its strong fluorescent property.
Under longwave UV illumination it exhibits a very bright yellow-green fluorescence. It also displays a weak phosphorescent afterglow following UV exposure and it positively glows in the dark!
GAGG glows a bright yellow, slightly greener and brighter than already-bright Ce:YAG
GAGG is originally developed as a scintillator crystal for detecting radiation. It however is not radioactive.
