π "LV Yellow" Czochralski Sapphire β An Exclusive Custom-Mixed Signature Color
Czochralski sapphire is lab-grown using a precise method to pull a single crystal from a molten alumina melt, making it a top choice for gem cutting. Its high purity and uniform crystal structure yield exceptional clarity and brilliance that rivals natural sapphire. This particular material was sold to me by the manufacturer as "LV Yellow" β a custom color they produced for a private client and not part of their standard production run. I'm passing along that story as it was given to me, and either way it makes for a genuinely limited offering you won't find on a standard price list. Sitting in a rich medium-to-darker yellow, it brings a warm, saturated golden tone with real depth, ideal for cutters who want bold color paired with bright, lively brilliance.
β¨ Key Features:
- Color: Medium to darker yellow β a rich, warm golden tone with depth, from an exclusive custom melt
- Mineral: Corundum (AlβOβ)
- Crystal System: Trigonal
- Hardness: 9 on the Mohs scale β extremely durable and ideal for rings and everyday wear
- Refractive Index: ~1.76β1.77 β crisp, sapphire-grade brilliance
- Dispersion: ~0.018 β gentle, tasteful fire
- Density: ~4.0 g/cmΒ³
- Pleochroism: Dichroic β shade may differ along each axis, so pick the orientation you like best
- Origin: Lab-grown via the Czochralski pulling method (manufactured in China)
With sapphire's signature toughness and a custom color you won't find on a standard price list, this rough is a standout for collectors and cutters who want something a little exclusive. Each piece is sold by weight and ready for the faceting bench.
πΈ Additional Notes:
- Due to the dichroic nature of sapphire, the shade of the stone may differ through each axis β pick the one you like best.
- The faceted gem shown is for example only and is not included.
